The Office of Alumni/ae Relations has received word that Rev. Julie Olmsted (M. Div. 2005) has been selected as a winner in the First Call Writing Project of the Academy of Parish Clergy (APC).  Rev. Olmsted is the Pastor of First Congregational Church in Hatfield MA.  Her article, “Visiting: The Surprising Gift of Pastoral Care for Shut-ins” appears in the December 2010 issue of the Academy’s journal Sharing the Practice. She is one of two first-call pastors selected for publication.  Rev. Olmsted will also be leading a discussion at the Annual Conference of the Academy, which will be held in Oviedo FL, February 15-17, 2011.  Dr. Martin Marty will be the featured presenter at that gathering.

APC is an international organization of clergy who are serving in faith communities of all sizes and in a variety of locales.  The Academy was established over 40 years ago to encourage clergy in the pursuit of excellence in ministry through a variety of study programs and peer group activities.   More information about the Academy is available at www.apclergy.org.

Congratulations Julie!
