                              “The Church of the 21st Century–

                      Transformative Leadership Shaping the Future”

 The Church is called to confront the issues that will define her future work. New York Theological Seminary is committed to equipping our leaders for a new era. We hope that you will engage with us as we bring religion to witness our call to service the least amongst us.

   9:00 a.m. Worship

There will be three panels that will look at the most compelling issues of our time:

Panel One: What are the Issues for the 21st Century Church?

      Moderator Katherine Henderson, President, Auburn Seminary

Panelists:

Mercy Amba Oduyoye, world reknown feminist thinker, and Ghanaian Professor: women in the 21st Century Church.

– Kofi Opuku, Ghanaian Professor: Challenges ahead for the Church, and tension with the global community.

– Lester Ruiz, Director, Accreditation and Institutional Evaluation,     Association of Theological Schools: defining Transformative Leadership.

Dan Meeter, Pastor, The Reformed Church: work in the church today.

– Allison Davis, Director, Development and Communications, The Riverside Church: media in the 21st CeLunch: The Alumni/ae Rising Star Awards Luncheon

   This award is given to two alumnus that have made tremendous strives in the field of religious work since graduating. Cecilia Loving ’07, Founder and Spiritual Leader of SPIRITMUV, and Alfred Correa ’09, Pastor of Hugenot Reformed Church.

1:00 p.m.

Panel Two: What’s for the Youth in the 21st Century Church

– Darren Ferguson, Pastor, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church: the pastor of today’s church is not yesterday’s pastor.

– Diane Carter, Associate Minister: creating a service that is cross generational.

– Alfred Correa, Pastor, Hugenot Reformed Church: working in the church with at-risk-youth.

2:00p.m.

Micah Institute Training”  – Informed training on how to organize in your community: how to run a campaign, how to talk with elected officials, how to talk with the media…and much more!

Cost: $35 for the day/includes a continental breakfast, and lunch;

       *$25 additional for two Continuing Education credits and certificate.
