The start of a semester can feel very overwhelming to even the most seasoned seminarian. Taking the initiative and prioritizing your financial aid future is the best way to ensure success. Waiting until the last minute can be stressful for you, as well as the people who work tirelessly to make sure you’re on the right track.

Here are some tips to help you get prepared:

☑Create a budget and complete the requisite application(s) no less than 60 days before the start of the term. Check your financial aid status online periodically to see what you are eligible for and for how much. Will it cover your entire balance or do you need to make payment arrangements?

☑Register for your classes early! This will allow you to have more of a variety to choose from before they start filling up. This will also give you more time to plan your work or childcare schedule for the new semester.

☑Stay on top of  your academic transcript and monitor your academic progress to ensure nothing holds you back from the best financial aid package possible.

Have You Applied for the NYTS Institutional Scholarship yet?

Last year, New York Theological Seminary awarded more than $400,000 in free aid. A variety of scholarship opportunities are open to students who demonstrate a need for assistance with tuition and  fees. Complete the general scholarship application at https://www.nyts.edu/financial-aid. It is very easy and well worth the time and effort!

HELP IS HERE! The NYTS Financial Aid Office rolls out the CARES Act Emergency Grant for seminarians.

The CARES Act Emergency Relief Grant Fund provides federal emergency financial aid assistance to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus as stipulated by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) Act that was signed into law March 27, 2020. Awards will be distributed to eligible masters and doctorate students based on need as determined by the 2019-2020 FAFSA and on the NYTS Emergency Aid Grant application. Look for more information on Moodle and our website in the coming days and act immediately! Funds are limited and the application period will be swift.
