A Note From Rev. Dr. Eleanor Moody-Shepherd:

Dear Women of the NYTS Community, Today the Eleanor Moody-Shepherd Resource Center for Women of Faith is recommitting its efforts and resources to educate, organize, strengthen and serve women of faith through creative initiatives, cutting-edge women-centric classes and captivating guest lecturers – all culminating in our 30-year+ celebratory Women of Faith Impacting the World Conference.
From its inception New York Theological Seminary has practiced Gender Justice by including women in its academic programming. Established in 1986, the NYTS Women’s Center (renamed the Eleanor Moody-Shepherd Resource Center for Women in Ministry in 2011) picked up the mantle to expand course offerings and missions/travel opportunities for women.
We are inviting you to be a part of the 2018 – 2019 Women’s Center Support Circle by joining us in this much needed women of faith empowerment work with a one-time donation of $300.00, or by making a monthly donation of $30.00 for 10 months. Your support and participation are important for advancing efforts for our Sisters everywhere! New York Theological Seminary Launches

The Rev. Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.,

Scholars Program

NYTS is launching the Rev. Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Scholars program in partnership with the Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood and Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Brooklyn in Spring 2019. The program includes scholarship support for a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) track and a Certificate Program (CP) in Ministry and Leadership.

The late Rev. Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., who served as Senior Pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem from 1937-1972 and in the US House of Representatives from 1941-1971, was one of the most influential Civil Rights legislators of the 20th Century. Participants admitted into the DMin and CP programs will be designated Powell Fellows.

Rev. Dr. Youngblood and the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church donated an initial gift of $500,000 in August, 2018 to launch the Powell Scholars Program. A campaign has been created to match the initial gift to the Program. For additional information or to make an online donation, visit our website at: www.nyts.edu/acpprogram
