[Bronx, NY] – Pastor Deborah D. Jenkins is calling upon Bronx-wide and Coop City Faith and Community Leaders to gather this Saturday, at 9:00 a.m., on the Lower-Level of the Coop City Dreiser Community Center 177 Dreiser Loop, Bronx, NY 10475 (in the Garden) to make comments and have a collective response to the tragedy in Orlando.

This effort is being led by Pastor Jenkins, Faith @ Work Christian Church 120 Dekruif Place Bronx NY 10475 and Archbishop Angelo Rosario, Church of God’s Children Dreiser Loop Bronx, NY 10475.

The devastation of the 49 murdered club-goers at the Pulse Club, in Orlando, Florida, on June 12, 2016 is a tragedy that should have never occurred.  As leaders, faith or other, we must take a stand against all such manners of evil and hatred perpetrated against any and all people.  The Bible says, “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:  But in every nation he that fears him, and works righteousness, is accepted with him.” (Acts 10:34-35).  This is something that we as a nation must begin to embrace without fear of other’s way of life.  By living in peace with our brothers and sisters we can begin to heal the many open wounds that for far too long have gone unaddressed.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”  Together we can be the change that we want to see in the world.  Please join us Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in Coop City.
