Passing away of NYTS Alumna Rev. Lemuel C. Butler (Class of ’93, CP)

We regret to inform you of the passing of NYTS Alumna Rev. Lemuel C. Butler (Class of ’93, CP) on November 21, 2013. Rev. Butler had been an active member of Majority Baptist Church in Queens, NY, where she served over the years in the Choir, Willing Workers, Women’s Fellowship, Missionary Circle, Christian Education Department, Noon Day Prayer Pianist, Administrative Assistant, Church Clerk, Deaconess Board and as an Associate Minister.   She also served as Chairperson of American Baptist Women New York State Board, Chairperson of American Baptist Women Long Island, and President and Vice-President of American Baptist Churches/ Metropolitan New York Administrative Board, positions which required that she travel throughout the United States, Russia, South Korea and South Africa to participate in mission work and spiritual guidance.  In 2001, she relocated to Virginia and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Lorton, Va., where she was officially designated as Minister Emeritus 2012. Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Lorton, VA 22079 and she was laid to rest at Pinelawn Veteran’s Cemetery, Farmingville, Long Island.  Condolences may be sent to Rev.
