Ms. Courtney Wiley-Harris to Become Director of Development and Institutional Advancement At NYTS

June 1, 2013 – New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) is pleased to announce that Ms. Courtney Wiley-Harris has accepted the position of Director of Development and Institutional Advancement, effective July 1, 2013.  A graduate of NYTS (MDiv) and current doctoral candidate, Ms. Wiley-Harris has served on the development team of the Seminary since 2006, most recently holding the title of Director of Publicity and Marketing.  As the new Director of Development and Institutional Advancement, she will assume responsibilities for leading the development team, serving as the point staff person for the recently-announced Campaign for the Future of New York Theological Seminary, and working with board members and the Seminary’s major donors.

“Courtney knows NYTS from all angles.  As a graduate and current doctoral student, she has experienced the academic side of the Seminary first-hand.  In development, she has already proven herself to be a consummate professional with gifts and skills.  She’s a natural leader who has proven herself already in numerous ways.  I am pleased that she has accepted the position and I look forward to working with her as we keep NYTS moving into the future.”

“I can’t think of a better person to sit at the desk I once occupied at NYTS” said the Rev. Dr. Paul W. Bradley, President of the Blanton-Peale Institute and member of the NYTS Board of Trustees.  “I look forward to working closely with Courtney both as a Trustee of the Seminary and as a President of a neighboring partner institution.”

“I am especially excited about this appointment for what it means for the development of women in leadership in every institutional aspect of theological education” said the Rev. Dr. Eleanor Moody-Shepherd, former Vice President for Academic Affairs and current Dean of Students at NYTS.

In accepting the position, Ms. Wiley-Harris noted that this placement is a natural progression from the Marketing office and can see the correlation between being responsible for the public face of the seminary to advancing the seminary’s goals. “This position is indeed work I feel especially called to fulfill and count it a privilege to serve the New York Theological Seminary community in this way. I’m looking forward to sharing the NYTS story.”
