Rev. Lonnie McLeod, Jr.       1948 – 2009

   The Rev. Lonnie McLeod, Jr., was tahe Pastor of Church of the Living Hope in East Harlem died on Sunday, October 25, 2009. 

   Rev. McLeod was born in Bennettsville, SC and attended high school in Raleigh, NC. He received a B.A. from Marist College (Poughkeepsie) and an M.A. in Professional Studies, a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from New York Theological Seminary.  In 1997 Rev. McLeod was ordained in the United Church of Christ and served as pastor of Church of the Living Hope from that point to the present. 

     Rev. McLeod formally served as Dean of Manhattan, Metropolitan Association, of the New York Conference UCC and as director of a youth-at-risk initiative in partnership with ten churches in the community.  

   His work outside of the church includes serving as Director of the Exodus Transitional Community assisting young adults released from foster care because of their age, adjunct professor at New York Theological Seminary and team coordinator at Edwin Gould Academy for Children.  

   The memorial service was held at St. Marks Methodist Church, 55 Edgecombe Ave at 137th Street, Saturday, October 31, 2009.
