Medgar Evers College is a senior college of The City University of New York, the nation’s leading urban university.  Founded in 1969 through the efforts from educators and community leaders in central Brooklyn, the college is named after Medgar Wiley Evers, a Mississippi-born black civil rights activist who was assassinated on June 12, 1963.  Medgar Evers currently offers 29 associate and baccalaureate degree programs.

Medgar Evers College Department of Philosophy and Religion accepts 18 credits from the NYTS Certificate in Christian Ministry toward the bachelor degree in Religious Studies.  Candidates must have completed the entire NYTS Certificate in order for the credits to be applied toward the B.S. degree.  The College offers a GED completion program that allows students to complete their high school equivalency while working toward their college degree, and an ESL program for students whose first language is not English.

NYTS accepts a select number of 400 and 500 level classes offered at Medgar Evers College in Religious Studies for credit toward the NYTS Master of Divinity degree.  Courses are identified in the Medgar Evers course offerings each year.
