NYTS Graduate Library

NYTS graduate students are served by the Columbia Library System, which consists of 25 libraries which house 9.5 million volumes, 117,264 current serials, and an extensive collection of electronic resources, manuscripts, rare books, microforms, and other nonprint material. NYTS students, faculty and staff have access to all Columbia libraries with the exception of the Law Library and Teacher's college.

Of special interest to NYTS students is Columbia's Burke library, located at Union Theological Seminary, which contains one of the most extensive theological collections in the western hemisphere with more than 700,000 volumes.

butler.jpg Students must acquire a Columbia Library card in order to utilize the libraries. The card is obtained in the LIO office of the Butler library on the Columbia Library at 535 W114th Street.

Doctor of Ministry Projects

Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) projects are located in the office of the Director of Library Services at 475 Riverside Drive, Suite 500. Reserve Material

Library reserve materials are available for each class through Moodle, an Internet distance learning software. A student registered for a class can access its reserve material from an Internet enabled computer anywhere in the world. On-line courses are also offered through Moodle and are periodically offered, as listed in the annual catalog published by the Registrar’s Office.

Communications Center

A joint venture between NYTS and the Riverside Language Program, the Communication Center, located in room MLK310 at Riverside Church, provides 24 computers, as well as wireless access, for student use. One dedicated computer has a Korean operating system. All Computers provide access to the Internet and many have word processing and/or biblical research software.

Normal hours attended by NYTS work-study student:

4:30 - 6:00 Tues and Thurs

4:30 - 6:30 Mon and Wed

Not open on Friday or the weekend.

Note: NO food or beverages are allowed in the computer area, but may be consumed on the tables in the adjacent area.
