"The Church of the 21st Century

--Transformative Leadership Shaping the Future"

Alumni/ae Day! The latest scholarship from some of today's most dynamic scholars and theologians. The morning will begin with a worship service, with the morning messge brought to us by Keith Russell, Director of the D.Min. Program.

The Church is called to confront the issues that will define her future work. Our first panel: What are the Issues for the 21st Century Church?, moderator Katherine Henderson, and panel will look at the most salient issues of our time: women in the church, use of media, "what is transformative leadership?", immigration issues for the global Church, and more; second panel: What's for theYouth in the 21st Century Church, moderator Alfonso Wyatt, and panel presents a worship service that integrates youth and the traditional church, the pastor today is not your pastor of the past, and the church's chaplaincy work with today's youth. There will also an exciting  training opportunity by the Micah Institute on "The How to of Community Organizing", with trainer, Ava Farkas, whose work stopped a Bloomsberg's supported mall from being developed in the Bronx...with 2 Continuing Education credit*.

At mid-day the Rising Star Award Luncheon will celebrate the accomplishments of two recent alums: Cecelia Loving (a new church plant) and Al Correa (developed training program for churches to work with troubled youth) .

Time: 8 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. worship, 10 a.m. first panel; 12 p.m. Alumni/ae Rising Star Awards Luncheon; 2 p.m. Youth Panel, 3 p.m. Community Organizing Training.

Cost: $35 for the day/includes a continental breakfast, and lunch;

       *$25 additional for two Continuing Education credits and certificate.

Aluimni Day 2009 Print E-mail

ALUMNI DAY was held on May 15, 2009. The day centered around Power Tools for Pastors, and how creativity and innovation is important in the church.

Morning worship was led by The Rev. Koonae Lee of the United Methodist Church of South Hampton, with music by the South Indian band, Tetragrammaton.
